Heres the thing, people whove come to know me well, or even just new acquaintances, have probably lost count and gotten to the point where they have to fight to not roll their eyes and bite their tongues at how often I compare someplace to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Read Daves article and youll understand; its not just me and my rose-colored glass view of my very beloved hometown. This is us, folks, in a nutshell. Yes, we can and will crawl up your nose when we feel it is necessary, usually when someone is being rude or ignorant; we are, after all Northeastern Yankees and subtlety is not necessarily a trademark of our region. ;) But, and heres the major thing, you can spend your entire day shopping, dining, taking a walk, etc., and have a world of delightful conversations with total strangers you may never get the chance to run into again. Some of that, yes, is memories of growing up with a family I absolutely worshiped and still do, of remember that my best forever friends were my cousins, who, no matter how often we wanted to kill each other, we always had each others backs and knew it. But, its not just that; its the city and her people, too. The folks you meet every day who will chat you up like youre part of their families, too. Now, Im living in a lovely Southern town called Johnston, SC and the very first thought I had when we walked around this town was how very much the feeling and people reminded me of Home. Thats a compliment borne of respect and love for my hometown. Go, see, experience my Hometown; youll fall in love, too.
