Heres the update from my September trip - I am now living in the building and actually have A/C & running water. I have converted the mezzanine into a loft apartment (a little over 1,000 sq ft or about 100 sq meters). It is coming along nicely and being on site most of the time has helped with progress there. We have designed the cafe bathrooms and they are going to be AWESOME!!! 2 large comfortable stalls for the women, a large stand up space for the fellas and a private stall for the gents as well PLUS a staff restroom with a shower that will triple as a handicap and baby changing room is also included. We have an 85% completed design for the bar layout and the rest of the space will be constantly moving furniture. I hope to ship the BIG ASS FAN down by mid October, so expect to see it turning before November. We have been granted our zoning approval (go figure, the place was an a/c distributor before and now its a restaurant/retail space and zoning wants to act as if it was a residential use prior & make us jump thru hoop after hoop). We get possession of our off site parking lot on October 1 and a new home for the Life is Good LIMO. I have purchased a SWEET POS system for the cafe from ShopKeep. It is iPad based and will permit the waitress to carry around a mini iPad and take orders at the table and it will IMMEDIATELY be zapped to the bar to be filled or in the future when we build out the kitchen in the adjoining room/front of bodega, the food component of the order be printed out there. SWEET and very inexpensive. Also I have purchased the new Sonos speaker systems for the loft and one for the cafe. If you know the system Im sure you LOVE it. I have a Play 5 and a Play 3 speaker for the loft and I have ordered two Play 5 and two Play 3 speakers. This system is wifi based (speakers have no wires other than 110v) and you totally control it from your iPhone, iPad or computer. I have been playing with the system in my house here in the US and its UNBELIEVABLE. You can even play different music on the different speakers ALL AT THE SAME TIME and easily controlled on your iPhone. The other improvements in the building I anticipate for October include painting the walls and ceilings. Hopefully we will complete the plumbing and electrical in the space and be focusing on floor covering and bar build out by then end of the month. Oh and I ordered the interior lighted signage for the space - pretty cool stuff from Hong Kong. Im haggling to purchase a couple of trucks up here to haul all of the inventory to the port to ship down to Merida. Lots happening - its keeping me VERY BUSY…
