Heres today Choro of hope. I just got the Zequinha Abreu book from Choro Music and it had Tico Tico in it. The really cool part is this arrangement had a real kick butt counter melody for tenor sax written by Pixinguinha another Brazilian composer and amazing flute and sax player. So today Im playing on my Antigua by Backun grenadilla Bb clarinet and my Pro-one Tenor Sax by Antigua Winds, Inc. On the tenor Im using an old Martin tenor mouthpiece with a Legere #3 signature tenor reed, this mouthpiece is so incredibly closed, but it has exactly the right sound for this stuff and I can more around like crazy down low. Im using my Jim Kanter Budapest facing on the clarinet with a 3.25 legere signature reed on that. With my new Silverstein Ligature. I cant wait to get one for my my saxes. This was a weird one to record, I have a solo concert arrange that Ive been playing and the sections on that are a different order and its in another key, so I changed the key of the tracks to the concert arrangement, so if I was recording it Id be practicing what Im going to use later. I played the clarinet part first, then I recored the tenor part. I really liked the sax part I recorded there was a relaxed looseness that I got, the clarinet part sounded a little too concerned with execution, (i was playing it safe, because there is still too much Ego in clarinet recording) So I re did the clarinet part, Its less right and Mo betta Enjoy
