Heres what I think Im going to do: While I continue the very frustrating job search, Im going to work on getting funding (a grant or something) to develop my Jihad data collection and analysis software into a fully autonomous jihad detection and mapping system... The code Ive written thus far has left me with pretty much all the basic building blocks required create such an autonomous Jihad visualization and alerting system. The idea is to develop software that continuously crawls the internet looking for Jihad (mosques, madrassas, Islamic Centers, Jihad websites, social media accounts, etc.). Really, I already have a primitive form of the software outlined above. However, theres a bunch of manual intervention required. I use code to drastically reduce the amount of data I have to personally view, but I am still required to decide, after looking at website content with my own eyeballs, which sites to crawl, which to label Islamist, and things of that nature. Most, if not all, of this human intervention can be replaced by software based on machine leaning techniques--specifically a combination of statistical probability filters (Bayesian) and artificial neural networks. Im going to write this software--because its a wicked awesome idea and half done already--I might as well try to get it funded. As a homeless and unemployed software Developer/Engineer/Hacker/Counter Jihadist, I have nothing better to do with my time than sit at the library and dream up this sort of brilliant stuff all day.
