Heres what the Chair of the local Sierra Club said via FB after I took a few minute at a meeting about climate change where I offered these 4 potential solutions to the climate crisis: 1) reduce general consumption, 2) childbearers have no more than 1 child, 3) reduce travel to only what is necessary, 4) reduce/eliminate meat and dairy from diets.......... .I did not respond to Mr Frenkel because, should all four of his suggestions be adopted, they would do little to halt climate disruption. I did not want to be rude to him but the topic of the meeting was effective actions to confront climate disruption -- eliminating energy from fossil fuels -- not vegetarianism, Mr. Len Frenkels cause. Livestock both recycle and expel carbon and within a decade or so their carbon footprint is negligible. Burning fossil fuels releases carbon accumulated millions of years ago and none of it is recycled to the soil. Livestock contributions to global warming are tiny compared to the burning of fossil fuels. Veganisnm is fine but to claim it will signicantly reduce climate disruption is bad science. -- Don Miles, Lehigh Valley Sierra Club chair
