Heres what you missed if you didnt come to our September meeting. We had a great meeting that started with 7 guests. Jim Young got his Tri-Mix Certification with John Chatterton. Quarry Days September 21st and October 18th, DUI Dry suit days. The club will pay for entrance into Lake Rawlings, sign up on the website. You also need to get tickets to the DUI website. Marc Moran introduced the guest speaker, David Guggenheim PhD of Ocean Doctor.org. He runs an educational program that allows US Citizens to legally travel in Cuba. They are currently running 11 day trips that include a few days in Havana and then diving in Cuba’s Garden of the Queen. Due to Cuba’s strong environmental policy, this area of the ocean is untouched and contains many species that have been killed off or become very rare throughout the Caribbean. Dr. Guggenheim wants to bring US and Cuba together through marine biology. As an example, they are looking at the Jordan River Peace Park that has forged a positive link between Jordan and Israel. Also, a new Richmond Dive Club Board will be chosen during the November meeting. If you want to get involved, let one of the current Board members know if you’d like to be nominated. 50-50 winner was John Greenwald.
