Heres whats going on today in the local area... The new Kearney Breast Center at St. John Medical Center is on display today, as an open house is held from 11:30 am to 6 pm. They’ll have tours, refreshments and giveaways at the completely renovated facility on the third floor of the hospital. The interior has been completely revamped, along with brand-new testing and diagnostic equipment. The Kelso-Longview Chamber of Commerce is putting on “Non-Profit Night,” an event showcasing more than 40 local non-profits and service organizations in the community. You’re invited to Mark Morris High School between 5 and 7:30 pm this evening, where you’ll be able to interact and learn more about each of these groups. Contact the Chamber for registration information. Barb Chamberlain, the Executive Director for Washington Bikes! Is scheduled to arrive this afternoon on an Amtrak train, and then will take a riding tour of the local trails before landing at ZoJo’s Coffee in Longview for an hour of informal discussion on a variety of bicycle-related topics. The train is scheduled to arrive at the Kelso Station at 2 pm, the riding tour is scheduled to go for an hour, ending up at ZoJo’s. You’re welcome to bring your bike and ride along. The Stageworks Northwest Children’s After School Theatre program presents “The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon,” a comedy adaptation of all 209 stories from the fairy tale writers. Curtain at the Longview Theatre on Commerce Avenue is 7:30 pm Friday and Saturday night. The production runs next weekend, as well. Donations will be accepted at the door. The 2nd annual “Bag Party” is planned for Friday evening at Cassava’s on 14th and Broadway in Longview. Living Ministries is organizing the event, asking for donations of new or “gently-used and washed” backpacks and sleeping bags, along with other survival items. Proceeds will benefit Hearts for Homeless and Love Overwhelming. This runs from 6 to 10 pm on Friday.
