Heres whats on view now! Wilmington Collects Art On View through June 1 Claude Howell Gallery in the Brown Wing For the first time, CAM invited the public to vote for their favorite artworks. Online voters chose from 52 artworks by Wilmington artists and artists with Wilmington ties from CAMs permanent collection. The top 25 picks form the exhibition on view in the Claude Howell Gallery. Informal talks begin on May 15 with Bruce Bowman, Betty Brown and Dick Roberts, May 22: Georgeann Haas, Abby Spangel Perry and Hiroshi Sueyoshi, May 29: Fritzi Huber and TBA, check CAM’s website for updates. Wilmington Collects Art is on view through June 1, 2014. Floating Sculpture Bruce Barclay Cameron Duck Decoy Collection On View thru June 1, 2014 Avid huntsman, sportsman, and philanthropist, Bruce Barclay Cameron collected duck decoys throughout his lifetime. This exhibition will highlight a selection of Mr. Cameron’s most noted decoys. Artisans included are A. Elmer Crowell from Cape Cod, MA; Joseph Lincoln form Acord, MA; Hucks Caines from Georgetown, SC; the Ward Brothers, Lem and Steve from Crisfield, MD; Mitchell Fulcher of Stacy, NC; and Ned Burgess of Churches Island, NC. Requiem in Glass: Brady’s Greenhouse An Installation by Harry Taylor On View thru June 1, 2014 This installation by Harry Taylor was commissioned specifically by the Cameron Art Museum and pays homage to the industrious work of famed American Civil War photographer Mathew Brady (American, c. 1822-1896) and the necessity of material reuse and utility brought on after the war. Brady is considered to be the father of photojournalism and was responsible for most of the photographic documentation of the American Civil War. When the war was over, Brady was forced to sell most of his glass plate negatives to settle his debts. These glass negatives were then recycled to build greenhouses, but as the years went by, the suns rays burned the imagery from the glass and these images were lost. Wilmington...
