Heres why you need to be able to do your own thinking: When I - TopicsExpress

Heres why you need to be able to do your own thinking: When I describe to people what I know Islam to be through my 3 years of living in Saudi Arabia, I get many who will say this: You cant judge other Muslims based upon the Saudis; Saudis practice Wahhabism, a very extremist fringe of Islam. Do you know why they say that?.....They dont know their ass from a hole in the ground, so what do they know about Wahhabism if they have no experience living in a Muslim society?.....They dont know squat, but they know how to do Google searches.....Where is one most likely to end up if you Google search Wahhabism?......Wikipedia.......How does Wikipedia define Wahhabism?......As an extremist sect of Islam. So there you go; I looked up the Wikipedia definition and it says they are extremist, so therefore they are extremist. First let me say: I find Wikipedia a very trusted source for accurate information. I dont claim to be smarter than the authors of Wikipedia definitions, BUT: I believe Wikipedia goofed on this one by imposing the authors opinion into this definition. How objective is this opinion? Who knows what bias the author possesses? The definition of Wahhabism is also buried in there among the unneeded opinionated stuff. Why not just give me the definition and leave it for each individual self thinker to opinionate for themselves whether or not to consider it extremist? I dont need others to do my thinking for me. The definition of Wahhabism is simply to preserve Islam in its original created state just as Mohammed created it, lived it, and intended it; to protect it from becoming tainted from outside secular influences upon it. Thats all I need Wikipedia to tell me. Let me decide whether or not I consider that extremist or not. Extremist, by the way, is merely saying unorthodox or outside the normal mainstream. Well, saying Wahhabism is extremist for wanting to preserve Islam in its true original created form, is the same as calling me a right wing extremist for wanting to protect, defend, and preserve the Constitution just as it was written; believing that it not only can, but has stood the test of times and can stand the test of more times to come with the foresight put into it by our founding fathers; not willing to call it a living, breathing document that needs to be modified to change with the times; not wanting leftist wackos monkeying with it, disrespecting it, or violating it. So yes, if thats what an extremist is, then I proudly call my self an extremist. I am a Wahhabi Constitutionalist, I guess you might say, versus a Wahhabi Islamist. Also, pulling truthful information from a Muslim is normally as hard as pulling teeth, so when they voluntarily give you truthful information, you should know how to recognize it and appreciate it as the truth. I have heard several Islamic Imams unitedly agree and tell you that the terms extremist Muslims versus moderate Muslims is an invention of the west. They tell you the truth when they say There is no such thing as moderate Islam or extremist Islam; there is only one Islam. Take that to the bank because it is the truth. But when a non-self thinker looks up the term Wahhabism and ends up at Wikipedia, his opinion of whether it is extremist or orthodox is already given to him; therefore, he needs not look at what it is and then decide for himself whether it is a whacked out crazy position or a loyalty to preservation and protection of ones religion position. I think Wahhabis are the same to their Islam as I am to my Constitution. I therefore believe Wahhabism shows you exactly what true Islam is! AND THAT OF COURSE IS PURE DAMN EVIL! A Muslim by the way, any and all Muslims are required to follow the example of their prophet and creator of Islam, Mohammed. Of course you do know that Mohammed was a jihadist warrior who himself did some head chopping off of infidels in his day...Todd
