Heres wishing all CEPU members and their families a happy and prosperous 2015. We hope you managed to get some down time over the festive period to spend with families and friends. 2015 is shaping up to be another big year and your CEPU team look forward to working with you all to make sure you are treated with dignity and respect in your workplace throughout the year and that you all receive fair and reasonable entitlements for the work you do. We have a few big challenges this year as we try to finalise the shambles that has been the TasWater EBA negotiations and we commence bargaining with TasNetworks. A number of construction industry agreements are up for negotiations this year and we will be working hard to assist those members to achieve decent industry outcomes. There are also a number of mining industry agreements still being negotiated along with a number of general trade and manufacturing industry agreements either being finalised or commencing bargaining shortly. Once again this year the CEPU will be focusing on providing Delegate training and development throughout the year to continue to build the skills and knowledge of our workplace representatives so anyone interested in becoming a Delegate and accessing this training should contact us so we can register you for an upcoming course. In the first quarter of this year we are hoping to announce a range of additional benefits available through your membership to expand upon the new services such as the legal and financial services we secured for members in 2014. We are also looking to hold an inaugural Branch Conference in late February or early March to seek much broader engagement and input from the membership into how you want your Union run and what initiatives and strategies you would like implemented over the next 12 months. All interested members should contact their Organiser for information on how to get involved. We will be launching a new website shortly which will provide much better access to information and also provide access for workers to join and pay their dues online. We are also hoping to launch a range of new merchandise so that you can wear your membership on your sleeve, literally! Last year the CEPU grew significantly in membership and with that growth comes more resources, better representation and a stronger Union. We are asking every single member to make sure they ask a non member to join up this year.
