Heres youre afternoon update... No significant changes were made to the forecast, and a HARD FREEZE WARNING and WIND CHILL ADVISORY remain in effect for all of Southeast Louisiana and Southern Mississippi away from the immediate coastal areas of Southeast LA. A FREEZE WARNING is in effect for coastal areas of Southeast LA. The primary concern will be late tonight through Thursday morning when temperatures and wind chills will be lowest. Remember to be safe when trying to stay warm. * Any space heaters should be no less than 3 feet away from flammable materials. * Multiple layers of clothing will keep you warmer than a single heavy coat, and dont forget that hat and gloves! * Make plans to check on any elderly neighbors or relatives since the elderly are especially susceptible to cold. * Dont forget your furry friends, either. If they cant come inside, provide them with adequate warm/dry shelter and access to unfrozen water. * Finally, remember to wrap any exposed pipes to protect them from freezing - especially if you live in a raised home. If your pipes cannot be wrapped, a very slow drip will also keep them from freezing.
