Herewith press release of my appointment as Editor in Chief of International Business Times UK IBT Media has appointed George Pitcher to be Editor in Chief of the International Business Times’ UK edition. George will assume overall strategic and operational editorial responsibility for IBTimes UK and its editorial relations with IBTimes’ other global hubs. He takes up his role on 1st August 2014 and will be based at IBT Media’s Canary Wharf offices. GEORGE HAS HELD senior editorial roles on a wide range of UK national titles, notably as an award-winning Indus- trial Editor of The Observer and as a leader-writer and columnist of Telegraph Media, publisher of the Daily Tele- graph and Sunday Telegraph. He has also founded and developed successful communications businesses and been an online commentator at the Daily Mail, as well as a website content editor for a number of enterprises. Peter Goodman, Global Editor in Chief of International Business Times, said: “George is the ideal journalist to lead the charge as IBTimes UK expands into a full-scale Euro- pean news hub. IBTimes UK has already amassed a large and growing audience. George’s digital savvy, authority in the business world and old-school journalistic values will dramatically accelerate our push to win new readers and markets.” George Pitcher said: “Good journalism is alive and well in the early years of the digital era. The news organisations that have suffered qualitatively are those that have stood still, but IBT Media is young and nimble enough to move quickly and to take on the lumbering old giants of digi- tal journalism. I’m looking forward to the contest and to leading a great editorial team in the UK and to building a premier online platform across a varied range of leading journalism.” IBT Media, which also publishes Newsweek, is a fast growing digital news organisation, delivering news to a global audience of 60 million readers per month through its numerous digital publishing platforms and editions. The International Business Times UK is based in Canary Wharf, London with a team of 45 journalists and editors. George Pitcher continues to chair Jericho Chambers, the progressive communications and change management consultancy. Contact Tom Rendell 0207 718 5875
