Here’s What Low-Carb Diets Do to Your Heart: time/3636690/glycemic-index-heart-health-low-carb Several of you have sent this one to me and I was planning on posting it today already. Right off the bat you need to know this researcher Frank Sacks is a calories apologist--hes hellbent on convincing people that it doesnt matter what you eat as long as you keep calories at a desirable level. Hes been doing this for years in his studies and makes no apologies for his conclusions. But the problem is he describes a couple of the diets as low-carb when they are not anything close to what most of us would consider a low-carb diet. READ THE FULL STUDY HERE: jama.jamanetwork/article.aspx?articleid=2040224 Youll notice the lowest carbohydrate intervention was 40% of calories and its based on a healthful DASH-type diet. Well, that means low-fat, low-salt, and boooooooorrrrrriiiinnnng. Sacks is too afraid to try a full-on, well-formulated low-carb, moderate protein, high-fat, ketogenic diet in his research because he knows it would blow his calorie theory out the window. Its too bad he gets so much positive press for his so-called research. This is nothing new for Sacks. He tried pulling the same thing in research five years ago that hes doing now. I blogged about it at the time here: livinlavidalowcarb/blog/if-new-research-says-weight-loss-is-all-about-the-calories-then-why-was-the-atkins-diet-omitted-from-the-study/3827 Dont miss what Dr. Richard Feinman had to say about Sacks 2009 study (and Im sure these views are basically the same about his 2014 study): livinlavidalowcarb/blog/feinman-recent-harvard-study-on-calories-should-not-have-been-published-and-exposes-sacks-bias/3933
