Here’s a glimpse into the past. As part of an ongoing series, Klamath post cards, The Herald and News and the Klamath County Museum feature historic Klamath Basin photos online and in the H&Ns Saturday Connections section. Klamath Post Card No. 48 — Reames Residence This home on the east bank of Link River was built for Evan R. Reames, one of Linkvilles early leading businessmen. Reames principal business partner in the late 1800s was Alex Martin, with whom he owned a 2,000-acre ranch south and east of town. A portion of the ranch eventually became Reames Golf & Country Club. Reames and Martin also operated a general store, and were partners in Klamath Countys first bank. This elegant home was torn down after the city acquired the site to develop a municipal water system. Visit the museum’s picture post card page at klamathpostcards.org to view other post cards in the series.
