Here’s another powerful and informative article from our great African Centered Scholar, Runoko Rashidi. For those who are confused, yes the “Moors” were a predominately Black African people. According to the Oxford English Dictionary, the Moors, as early as the Middle Ages and as late as the 17th century, were “commonly supposed to be black or very swarthy, and hence the word is often used for Negro.” Just because you may have not heard this before does not mean that it’s not true. It means it’s something outside of the circumference of your own awareness. Runoko Rashidi is a historian, research specialist, writer and public lecturer focusing on the African foundations of world civilizations. He is a world traveler and has traveled to 100 countries, colonies and overseas territories. He is the author of Introduction to the Study Of African Classical Civilizations and the editor, along with Dr. Ivan Van Sertima, of the African Presence in Early Asia. Listen to our interview with Runoko Rashidi from The African History Network Show. blogtalkradio/theafricanhistorynetworkshow/2014/04/18/runoko-rashidi--africans-in-tasmania-the-black-madonna-child-and-more or AfricanHistoryNetwork Runoko Rashidi discussed recent articles he has written for AtlantaBlackStar dealing with “The Holocaust of African People In Tasmania”, “The Black Madonnas of Europe” and more.
