✾ Heritage Trees Wednesday ✾ The majestic Kapok (Ceiba pentandra) Heritage Tree along Braddell Road is a conspicuous landmark for people travelling past the Toa Payoh North Flyover. Planted in the 1970s when Toa Payoh satellite town and the flyover was built, the tree was endorsed as a Heritage Tree in 2001. You might have passed this tree many times, but we bet you never knew it was a Heritage Tree ;) During the recent dry spell, you might have noticed that the Kapok Heritage Tree was almost without foliage and when observed up close, there were clumps of creamy white flowers. The Heritage Tree fruited recently and some of the Kapok fibre can still be observed on the Heritage Tree. So keep your eyes peeled if you pass by the tree these few days! #heritagetreeswednesday #nparks #nparksbuzz #cityinagarden
