Heritage disaster in Dereham - the frontage of the former TSB - TopicsExpress

Heritage disaster in Dereham - the frontage of the former TSB bank in Norwich street has been completely demolished. This goes totally against the conditions of the planning approval of the development by Basil Todd. It was to be the original feature that the whole of the new stores front was designed around. In all the planning documents the retaining of the frontage was a key element, now it has been demolished. What can be done? I would like to see an exact replica with all the moulded bricks and architectural features built in good Norfolk Reds as it was. The developer must not be allowed to profit from the distruction of our towns heritage and we should not be deprived of our historic street frontage. With this and Wetherspoons lack of care for their listed building a halt needs to be called by Beckland Council to this total disregard for our Dereham heritage. As if the loss of the Old TSB frontage was not enough Basil Todd is also appling to overturn the planning condition of an archaeological investigation of the site.
