Herman Miller Cares & Geiger work together to restore a national treasure—North Americas only Isamu Noguchi Playscape in Atlanta, GA. This Saturday, September 27th, Atlanta residents are invited to join us in celebrating the newly restored Isamu Noguchi Playscape in Piedmont Park. Located near the 12th Street Gate, the Playscape was designed by renowned artist and sculptor Isamu Noguchi (1904 - 1988), under the aegis of the High Museum and a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. Completed in 1976, Noguchi playgrounds are aspects of what he called “the sculpture of spaces”, intended to make sculpture a useful part of everyday life. Piedmont Park’s Playscapes familiarize children with shapes, colors, and textures. Herman Miller Cares and Geiger partnered with Park Pride to restore the Playscape, making it a safer and more vibrant play environment for Atlanta children in the citys most visited greenspace, Piedmont Park. Our partner at the city of Atlanta, Office of Cultural Affairs managed the art conservation project on behalf of Park Pride.
