Heroes Hearts Heroes Hearts is a new initiative started as the Eagle Scout Project of 17 year old Elijah Pruka. Eli is from Princeton Minn. and has a background in rescuing animals. In 2010, his older brother, Cpl Sean Osterman USMC, joined his 2nd Recon Battalion for his second tour in Afghanistan. On December 14, Sean was wounded in his attempt to protect his other Marines. He succumbed to his injuries two days later. Eli has wanted his project to have an impact on the service members his brother so ardently protected. It is out of this love, Eli now introduces Heroes Hearts. This program is a combination of Elis two loves, animals and Veterans. The purpose of Heroes Hearts is to honor those who have served and still suffer the effects of their experiences. It is designed to match companion animals from local shelters with Veterans who could use the love and appreciation of animals who need rescuing themselves. Through the love, caring and nurturing of animals that give such in return promotes a healthy bond which is wonderful for both Veteran and animal alike. Heroes Hearts is not meant to provide service animals but to match companion animals with those who could benefit from such a bond. Fundraising has been obtained to begin the matching process so if you are a Veteran or know of a Veteran that has the ability to own a pet and would like to be considered for this program, you may contact Eli after 3:30 p.m. at (763) 772-4897 or email him at HeroesHearts@yahoo. All donations will be used to provide the shelter animal free of charge for the Veteran and provide a care package for their beginning bond. https://youtube/watch?v=-k5v1qK70Wo#t=13
