Hes Innocent! Just get over it. I think Ive read that over and over a hundred times through various friends posts since last night. The very statement itself speaks a lot about us. Just get over it. I think its a statement white people easily throw out because we werent part of the injustices that have gone on. It would be easy for me to say it. Ive never done anything to anyone over a racial issue. In fact Ive had many friends black, white, Hispanic... Yet all that statement does is to continue to widen the gap. It shows our true unsympathetic attitude towards the root of the problem. Only is it that simple. This divide is literally ripping the country a part at the seams with both sides firing away. JUSTICE!!!!!! GET OVER IT To all my white friends....we will NEVER EVER understand what it was or is like to walk in the shoes of those of color. We, as a whole, do not know the true injustices that were done and have been done that have created the mistrust of a system. Yes the system declared he would not be charged but to understand the pain you have to look beyond one single event. You need to be part of the solution. Stop the unsympathetic talk, look for ways to begin to unite and say some of the system needs to be fixed, and look for the ways that unite us & work to move forward. To my black friends...I hear your pain. Dont look at me as just another white guy but as a man willing to stand here wanting to rise above this all and unite us even if its a few of us. I will never know what its like to walk in your shoes but I do know many of you have been some of my closest friends in life. Please remember those times and see that there is hope. Ferguson was tragic. Anytime a life is lost it is tragic. The situation could have went down a hundred ways. It is and was so easy to make it a black-white thing. Both men might have made some better choices. In hindsight we all think we would have made better decisions. Dont give up trying to move forward though. Yes there are people on both sides perpetuating the very reasons that are keeping is divided but there are many many more who are still continuing to strive to move forward. Lets spread unity. Lets spread love. Lets begin to rise up and create true change. Let the red in our veins and the Lord that is the same above is be the foundation of a new future. If you want to respond please be careful what you may say. If you dont agree from either side you are free to unfriend at anytime.
