Hey - dont forget the Shark Con/AWARE class on May 3rd and 4th. Class includes admission to the Shark Con as well as two boat dives the next day. Here is the schedule. We have a couple of spots. Greg AWARE Shark Conservation Diver Specialty May 3rd & 4th. Cost $220 Join Florida Underwater Sports for a 2 day program on shark ecology and conservation leading to an AWARE Shark Conservation Diver Specialty. Sat May 3: Attend SharkCon, an ocean conservation convention in Tampa featuring programs and discussions on ocean issues from a variety of environmental organizations, International Ocean and shark ecologists. Discovery channel personalities and Sylvia Earle (Her Deepness) are scheduled to give presentations throughout the day. Sun May 4: Time to get wet with two dives in the Gulf of Mexico in locations where sharks have frequently been observed (although there is no guarantee sharks will be seen). During the dives you will learn about hazards to sharks and ways to minimize these impacts. If sharks are seen, we then observe behavior patterns and continue developing safe diving and viewing practices. After the dives well meet at the dive shop for a short discussion on the dives, diver responsibility and shark conservation. These dives are with Blue Water Explorers located in Cortez, FL.
