Hey Everybody! So here is some information regarding Banned Books week: Simply put, it raises awareness towards literature that has banned from public consumption due to suggestive content, language, etc. The event also aims to promote intellectual freedom, which as described by the American Library Association (ALA) relates to the right of every individual to both seek and receive information from all points of view without restriction, and provides for free access to all expressions of ideas through which any and all sides of a question, cause or movement can be explored. This web page from the ALA has more detailed information, as well as links to lists of banned and challenged books. (ala.org/bbooks/bannedbooksweek) Some sort of decorative and informative display seems like a pretty common and easy way to go for this, but if anyone has any more ideas, they will be gladly considered! I will soon get in touch with the appropriate directors, supervisors, and other personnel about doing something for the event.
