Hey Everybody, the event is right around the corner, and you know - TopicsExpress

Hey Everybody, the event is right around the corner, and you know what that means... its time for my annual rant! (cue applause here). Here are my top tips for staying happy and safe at the event: Read the policies before bringing any props. If you have questions, e-mail [email protected] and Ill give you some pointers. We dont have anywhere to store props that dont pass, so youll be asked to take them off site to store in a car, dorm room, something like that. Drink lots of water, eat well, get rest. I know its a great time to hang out, stay out late and all that fun stuff...but please, stay healthy too. A bit of water, some hand washing and a good bit of rest will keep you from having a week long post-con hangover. Be nice to each other and the venue. If you have garbage, please, pick it up. Sometimes the bins get full, and we do our best to get Grant MacEwan to keep on top of them, but if the bin is full, there is likely one just a little ways away. Observe No Photography Zones. These are narrow hallways, stairways, elevators and bathroom entrances. This keeps traffic from backing up and keeps everybody happy. It also keeps the Fire Department happy, because if theyre not happy...we all lose. Finally...please...please...please dont attempt red rover on the front lawn. Ive dealt with a ton of injuries and literally 18 hours of paperwork because of this. It is going to be a one warning thing. Ill mark your pass the first time, and the second time I take it and you get to spend the weekend elsewhere. Why am I so harsh with this? Well... it comes down to insurance. If there are too many injuries, the insurance company drops our policy. If the insurance company drops our policy, we cant have an event. So have fun everybody!
