Hey Everyone! Here is some General AAUSS for those starting out! 1.To sign up with AAUSS please go to adoptaussoldier.org and click on the Adopt a Soldier tab. 2. Ways to support: •Long term adoption (Adopting a Soldier) - supporting a soldier throughout their deployment. Sending an introductory e-mail and at least one snail mail letter per week until your soldier says they are coming home or your letters start coming back. Care packages are optional but always appreciated! •Project Frontlines- A onetime care package or letter send by an individual or group to an entire platoon or group of soldiers. Please send any letters or packages within 1-2 months of receiving the representing soldier’s information. 3.Problems, Questions, or Comments for our adoption admins: Please send an e-mail to [email protected] 4.If I don’t hear from my soldier/have a silent soldier what do I send?? adoptaussoldier.org/index.php/site/comments/what_should_i_send_to_my_soldier/ 5.If I live in another country can I still adopt a US Solider to support? •Yes!! We have over 170 countries/ territories/ independent states with thousands of active volunteers supporting our troops by adopting a soldier! •Just add “USA” underneath your soldier’s address and ship it like you would any other package to the U.S. The postage is the same as a regular package to the U.S. 6.How long does it take to get my soldiers information after I register? •It takes 2-4 days to get your soldiers information after registering for long term adoption. •Project Frontlines: Immediately after you sign up you will get the representing soldiers information. This soldier will receive everything for the group, then pass out to those in need. •Always be sure to check your spam mail for our e-mails. 7.Can I adopt more than one solider? •If it has been more that 30 days since your last adoption you can get a second soldier by e-mailing our adoption admins at [email protected] •Please remember that if you take on a second soldier to make sure you can support both of your soldiers whether they are a silent soldier or not. 8.Remember that snail mail letters are the single most important thing a soldier can receive. It’s like getting a hug from home and knowing that someone cares. We have been told that there is nothing like hearing your name at mail call. Happy Supporting and THANK YOU for supporting our troops! – Tara AAUSS Admin
