Hey FB Family! I always want us to be clear and knowledgeable about our actions. Lou Gehrig is a New York Yankee baseball Hall of Famer who was diagnosed with ALS in 1939 and died 2 years later. He was one of the first American celebrities to give ALS a face and a voice. When he publicly announced his diagnosis, he also announced his retirement from a game that he loved, broke records in, and was considered to be one of the best to this day. The Ice Bucket Challenge is a FINANCIAL FUNDRAISER to find a cure for ALS, a disease that attacks the nervous system and ultimately leaves its victims completely paralyzed. So, while youre pouring buckets of ice water over your head, your financial contribution to find a cure is what completes the challenge. Without the cash, its just a bucket of ice water.
