Hey Facebook, musically-inclined friends in Cedar Rapids/Marion/Hiawatha: As most of you know, my Ellen has Aspergers, but is high functioning and incredibly talented musically. She just called me into her room to listen to what she had figured out. She played for me the full intro of John Legends All Of Me. I asked her where she learned it, and she said, I figured it out. She has also figured out Hedwigs Theme from Harry Potter and the theme from Inuyasha, one of her anime shows she likes. Some of you may remember her singing Adele in the talent show last fall. I want to get her into piano or voice lessons, but Im afraid that teachers will want her to start from scratch to learn from the beginning. I need someone that will embrace her abilities and run with them. Someone who will teach her the basics, but not stress that she learns to read music before they can teach her anything. I would appreciate any and all feedback on this, so the she can get into the lessons shes been asking for. Thank you!
