Hey Family & Friends, Jered David has had a challenging first day - TopicsExpress

Hey Family & Friends, Jered David has had a challenging first day of 2015. His blood oxygen level has been going up and down a lot the last couple days. On one hand he is really getting closer to breathing on his own, but, if he stops making progress, they might have to take his original breathing tube out and put a new one in to fit his larger throat now, they dont want to do this unless they have to, its traumatic for Jered. Please pray his lungs will continue to grow strong and breathe correctly in the next couple days. Another concern, Jered has now had about 4 episodes of what they call SVT since yesterday morning. This is where his heartbeat will shoot up to about 250-280 beats per minute. This has lasted for a few minutes at a time. His normal rate has been 150-170. When an SVT happens, its like the electrical generator in his heart is firing off too many impulses, and his heart starts racing. In order to stop it, they put a bag of ice on his head, and that has helped to kick his heart back to normal. If this doesnt work, they have to give him a shot of short-term medicine that can stop it. If the SVTs keep continuing, they will have to put him on long term heart medication, with possible side effects, etc. :( The doctor wants to wait and see how he does. It could just be his prematurity, and he could grow out of it, but, at this point its a mystery. When an SVT happens, Jereds other vital levels are fine, and he looks really calm, so, the doctor doesnt want to move to medication so soon. An SVT just happened a little while ago while we were here, so, it was scary to see the nurses and doctor come in quickly and try to help him. The ice pack worked quickly, thank Jesus. Please pray that The Lord will heal his heart completely and that he wont have another SVT. Right now they are letting Isabel hold Jered David, she is sitting on a recliner, he is on her chest. Amazing. So, in the midst of the trial, there is an amazing blessing. Isabel is singing Amazing Grace to Jered. :) Praise God. I know when we send these difficult updates, its like were sharing the stress and fear with you, so, Im sorry. We appreciate you all so much, going through this time alongside us with our little warrior. The Lord is hearing all our prayers, lets continue to cry out to Him. We believe The Lord is in control. We trust in His love and His sovereign will. We love you guys.
