Hey Guys - Amanda Here - I know we dont need to post this kind of stuff to you all but as a 100% transparent organisation I just like to be completely up front.. As you know, we are making our audited financial statements public very soon. Our 2011 / 2012 ones will be up in a few days.. Our 2013 hopefully in about 4 weeks and our 2014 audit starts on the 30th of November and will be made available early next year :-) Our 2011 and 2012 ones are only very small. This was before I was running the charity full time so the amount we spent on vets etc etc in one year is what we are spending per month now remembering we only had about 10 horses in care at any one time back then. Its going to be interesting seeing the difference! Its amazing what having a full time worker has done to the size and growth of the charity :-) So just for your information - this audited year my income is $822 per week after tax.. My average work week is 119 hours (on a good week with no sick horses) So im earning $6.90 per hour... This will not change over the next audited year... Never in a million years will any person - let alone a CEO or manager do my job with those hours for that kind of money but this organisation is my life so ill do what it takes to make it work and everyone still needs to eat. Next year when we are ready and in a position to put on a full time administrator their income will be $846 after tax for a 50 hour week. We will be the only two paid staff members for next audited year. We spend charity money extremely well and since being registered we havent bought anything not needed - we use second hand, donated and hand-me-down computers, printers and we hardly even spend money on horse rugs - asking our supporters to donate some instead! Our budget is tight and at the Gold Coast Sanctuary Jen makes our poor volunteers use feed buckets until they are completely unusable.. Im a little softer on my vollies at Beaudesert and do tend to replace them in they have broken handles. They are far to heavy to carry otherwise hehe.. But thats just an idea on how tight we are... (Jen more so than me hehe) This audited year we did however have to purchase two mobile phones (our phone bills are paid by us personally not the charity) but the charity does pay for the internet in our main officer. We bought a 2007 model ford ute for the charity after my personal car which I trashed using for the charity died. This wasnt an option, we needed a ute for the charity. We havent so much as even bought a horse float and are lucky enough to have one being donated. Everything we have bought for the charity was approved for and recorded in the minutes... So guys.. There is an idea of how we spend our money and soon you will all be able to read it in our open, very public financial reports. :-) I know we dont have to post this kind of stuff but I do enjoy being open with everyone and being open also stopped rumors dead in their tracks. No one can argue with audited financial statements although they will probably try... :-) Thank you all so much for your kind donations that make this organisation what it is today... 83 horses we have in care and if things continue to grow I can see the numbers growing also... You are all amazing :-)
