Hey Guys - Amanda Here - Jen has been busy with the sick mare and foal so im going to tell you all a quick story on the pair... Yesterday we got a call from someone who had acquired a new born foal the night before. It was born sick and the owner was out of her depth with the foal and asked for help. The foal was picked up by this good Samaritan who took the foal to Manly Rd Vet Hospital. The amazing vets at the hospital told the girl she should think about surrendering him to us. He was super sick with a badly damaged eye... When she dropped him off we got the contact details of the original owner who I then called and offered to buy the mare, she agreed immediately wanting what was best for both of them. We did a mercy dash to the property to pick the mare up who was also extremely sick. I found out this lady had rescued the mare in foal only a few weeks before hand. The mare arrived last night and she didnt want anything to do with the foal. She is very unwell and quite skinny. We have listened to our vets on what to do in this situation and while getting the mare well we will introduce them slowly so neither one is at risk of becoming sicker or getting injured! Now PLEASE do not post advice on what you think we should do. We have rescued enough foals and lucky enough so far in 14 years we have only lost 2... PLEASE dont not post nasty comments about the past owner, she did the best for the horses in the end... If she didnt, they might both be dead now! So PLEASE look at the 2 lives we have saved and support our quest in getting them better and if you dont like what we are doing... The unlike button is easy to find :-) Thank you to all the people leaving supporting positive messages.. They are what Jen and Lace need right now after no sleep and endless hours trying to save their lives!
