Hey I see that Dave Jones is looking for someone to help out. I could do with a job. Ive got nothing to hold me to this country. I want away from my noise nuisance neighbour. :/ My dad was a radio operator in the RAF. But that was long before I was born. He still had a practical interest in repairing things that were broke. If something was beyond repair, hed let us kids take it apart. I remember stripping out the old cooker. If we were good, hed switch it off first. :/ I was keen on fixing things. I had old stereos that I kept going. I used to read the electronics mags. I fixed bikes too. I didnt build many things tho. As kits were so expensive, often more than very good quality shop bought items. I looked thru all the adverts to get the individual components. But they often had a high packaging cost, and didnt have all the parts in one shop. Ive worked in a shop as a helper for the TV Mechanic as he so charmingly named himself. I would sort thru the old broken stuff. Stereos and games consoles mostly. We would clean stuff up. Sometimes swap boards or fit new components. They sold new and used bikes. So I sorted them too. I remember crashing a bike into a pile of DVD players, in the store room. :o Best thing for those horrible cheap dvd players Im not up on all the electronic theory. Or have any experience on laying out PCBs. I can check thru for basic faults. I guess Im not an actual electronics hobbyist then, as Dave Jones would have it. But as I see it, theres several levels to any hobby or activity. If people are having a go at electronics. Thats good enough for me.
