Hey Jazz lovers! Madeleine Peyroux, singer, songwriter and guitarist will be dropping in at EPCOR CENTRE on January 24th! Peyroux’s distinct voice has been likened to timeless jazz songstress Billie Holiday, and she has cited Holiday, Bessie Smith, Edith Piaf, and Leonard Cohen among others as some of her biggest influences. Living in Paris as a teen, Peyroux was drawn to the street music of the Latin Quarter, later joining The Lost Wandering Blues and Jazz Band, spending a number of years touring Europe performing jazz standards. Through her unique renditions of old classics by Leonard Cohen, and The Beatles, Peyroux has been called an ‘insightful interpreter’ with her consistently impeccable choice of material.
