Hey KIDS !!!... -- This is a message from your friendly neighbourhood UNITY Shop… Tomorrow is VOTE DAY -- …wait!, wait!, wait!… keep reading!!!… Politics can often seem boring, illogical and distant to a young person - but, like it or not, each and every one of us - is directly affected by our political system and political parties. We, as YOUNG PEOPLE and YOUNG FAMILIES need to get MORE INVOLVED in the political decision making of our community. During the last election in Osoyoos ONLY 40.7% of eligible voters turned up to vote…. 40.7%!!! -- thats sad. Six out of every 10 people didnt even show up. --- and YES -- I understand that this may be a direct reflection of the interest level that young people and young families have in their electoral choices…. and, if you feel that way, -- SPOIL YOUR BALLOT -- simply write None of the Above on your ballot… or whatever statement you like. Thats the point -- youre making a statement. Sitting on the couch wont create any kind of positive change. Look at your choices -- and make a decision that you feel will best impact this community -- whatever that may be. Municipal politics has the largest direct impact on young people and young families -- issues like parks, schooling, zoning, development and neighbourhoods… where YOU live -- are all a part of Municipal elections. TOMORROW -- WHEN YOU GO TO VOTE AT THE SONORA CENTRE -- TAKE A SELFIE AT THE FRONT DOOR, (just at the front door - not inside) -- POST IT TO THE UNITY PAGE - WITH THE CAPTION -- I CARE -- AND…. YOU CAN WIN A $50 UNITY GIFT CARD!!! -- thats right, well draw a name at 8pm tomorrow night !!!! --- GET OUT THERE AND --- VOTE! VOTE! VOTE! VOTE!!!!
