Hey Maria, Ive Been looking at the Kick starter stuff and missing - TopicsExpress

Hey Maria, Ive Been looking at the Kick starter stuff and missing my old buddy. I remembered once he called me, and was concerned about the article on his race in Ultra Running. He wanted to know if I had a copy and would I bring it by. At that time he was living down in back of the plant shop, at the bottom of the hill. So. I went on down and shuffled to the back of his condo and he was siting there listing to the Rockies game. We must have talked two hours or more, not like him, about everything. You name it. It reminded me of my dad and I listening to the Cardinals and mostly talking. Both were simple, nice and relaxing experiences. Funny how some events while not remarkable in themselves live on. We love you! - Dan and Janey Freedom- Caballo-- I am sure that thousands upon thousands of emails have floated your way proclaiming that you have given the writers inspiration, motivation, freedom, etc. It is not my opinion that people can be shown freedom, much like a shadow cannot show what comprises a soul. However, people often spend their lives searching for freedom, motivation, etc. We squander the opportunities that are in the present for some grandiose version of what we are looking for. What I have learned is that we miss what we are by looking for what we think we are. If i learned anything from reading Born To Run, it is that we should do what makes us happy, and that action alone procures our freedom, our inspiration. The spirit of those friends who gathered in the dusty trails of the Copper Canyons did not achieve enlightenment. They did not find themselves. They simply pursued the present with such ferocity that they procured happiness. This is not meant to belittle or demean what happened on that fateful day. It means that what happened is supposed to be enacted in our everyday lives. The same actions that caused you to pursue your goal, that caused Scott and Eric and all the others to participate; they acted on the present without regard for what might be or could be. That is honorable. That is living. That is free. Mantenga correr, mi amigo. G S
