Hey Moms & Dads, If you are not currently satisfied or happy with your childs school there are other options. I took Rose out of the typical Middle School setting for 7th-8th grade and sent her to VANCOUVER HOME CONNECTION. She did amazing, her test scores were high about average and she met some of her closest friends there. Dont be confused, it says home connection that doesnt mean that I teach her my own curriculum. I just oversee her work, and assist the teachers minimally in the process of learning, going over her work, and making corrections. The program has two different schedules. K-6 is Mon/Wed 9 am-2 pm. 7-12 has Tues/Thurs 9:00 am -3:30 pm. The class sizes are so small, most of them a dozen or less in a class. Every child is different and learns differently. For Brooke my 6 th grader, I decided to pull her out of Jemtegaard and move her to Vancouver Home Connection in the Vancouver School District. Its twice a week with 10 hours of instruction at the school per week. At home, she is to do an hour of physical activity and art per week. Its not that huge of a commitment, but for her to be able to wake up at 6:00 am and work for a few hours and have most of her work done for the day is awesome. She is a morning person. When Brooke was in the regular day She would be up at 6 and not even starting her schooling until around 9:00 am. We now have the ability to do and learn during her peak hours. We are new to the k-6 program, but after two days we have a handle on it. If you have any questions feel free to message me. There is a mandatory orientation on Monday, the 10th at 8:45 am. They take new students year round, but you have to come to the orientation before you can enroll.
