Hey. My name is Quinton but a lot of times I go by Rex; thats my dads name. My mom is Sharon and I love them both. My sister is Tiffany and brother is Allen. I love God, fishing, and my girl Christa. Oh yea, love Bama football too. Roll Tide!.... If Rex could write this post, it may start something like that. His post a few weeks ago pretty much sums up his approach to life - I deal with mine by always laughing and trying to make other people laugh. On November 18th, his journey got tougher. A doctor sent him home despite issues with breathing and chest pain. The next day he made a foreshadowing post desiring a cure for all sickness so young people like him wouldnt have to worry when they went to sleep. Then the following day, Nov. 20th, he passed out at home. Thankfully his mom and girlfriend were there and called the ambulance. During the next few hours, his heart stopped multiple times and Asheville Mission Memorial bypassed his heart and prepped him for transport to Duke University Hospital. God is in control - his heart didnt quit until he was in the ambulance. God is in control - despite his heart stopping for 40 minutes, he is alive. Medical staff maintained blood flow with CPR but God is in control. Rex was born with an enlarged heart but lives a normal, joyful life. Despite doctor visits, defibrillator, and cautious exertion, he is completely healthy and an amazing source of positive outlook, happiness, and fun. Always, always, always smiling, polite, courteous, and extremely smart. A team of 15 medical professionals came from Duke and transported him back to Duke for surgery and recovery. On Friday, Nov 21st, his surgery lasted all day. The intent was to stabilize him by use of a heart pump to assist his failing heart, until a heart transplant can be performed. God is in control. On Saturday, Nov. 22nd, the doctors began several procedures such as warming up his body temp to normal, and reducing sedation. Later that day, they began waking him up. His family, his girl, and friends were around his bed to see his eyes open; though very slowly and partially, his eyes opened. God is in control. The doctors and nurses seemed to expect him to respond somewhat to their commands, such as move your legs, blink, etc. Other than some involuntary twitches, he didnt move. On Sunday, the doctors did more to stimulate responses, such as pinching and talking loudly to him, but very little response if any. Arms and upper body would move some but legs had no movement. But, thankfully, he would open his eyes when talking to him. Usually, just a blank stare with head turned slightly to his left. Over the next few days, he began moving his legs. On Wednesday, Nov 26th, his girl Christa smiled big when he reacted normally to having his foot tickled. God is in control. Between then and Sunday, he made more strides in response. When company by his bed, he forced himself to stay awake, occasionally dosing off but re-wakening when spoken to. He began squeezing hands when being held, and moving his eyes a little versus a blank stare in same direction. God is in control. He turned his eyes to the right looking for the person talking to him. God is in control. On Friday, Nov 28th, a pastor, Rev. Stacey Glover was moved by his journey and rode 4 hours to come visit and pray. God is working a miracle. During prayer, anointing, worship, and Bible reading by his bed, Rex responded tremendously - legs moving, arms moving, head moving, eyes looking around, and body reacting as if he was trying to make all his actions work together to get up. Through the moving of The Holy Spirit, Rex showed that Gods miracle was still evolving. God is in control. During the first week of December, a trachea was inserted, and some blood clots were found, but that is all under control now. CT scans show that his lungs are clear. EEG monitoring and brain scans show that there is a lot of activity. Doctors say they need his brain to wake up. They mention that there may be brain damage but nothing firmly spoken. God is in control. They say, its a wait and see status. They seem surprised that he hasnt woken up fully and spoken or moved upon command. But, God is in control. Rex journey is impacting many, many lives. Seemingly hundreds of people are praying and expressing love to him and his family and friends. Several have expressed life-changing impacts, such as asking Gods forgiveness for mistakes and desiring Gods direction in their life and most all given a reminder that life is precious and valued. Some have expressed realization that God is using this to break down barriers such as racial and denominational. Others have expressed Godly visions and dreams about Rex. Ultimately, many have grown in faith and are praising God for his goodness and mercy. And for Rex miraculous journey as he heals and recovers, cause GOD IS IN CONTROL. Please post pics, prayers, well-wishes, thoughts, and love. MOST OF ALL, NEVER QUIT PRAISING GOD FOR HIS LOVE AND GOODNESS AND NEVER QUIT PRAYING FOR THIS MIRACLE TO CONTINUE EVOLVING. There IS coming a day that Rex will be the honorary guest at one of the biggest CELEBRATIONS of life that has ever been. Rex, you are loved. You are admired. You are strong and awesome. Many, many, many love you!!!! God Speed to Rex healing. Amen
