Hey Peeps, here is an update as to my trip to USC... Had a great visit, the student Dr under Dr Niparko that has been following my car for the past 8 weeks was so awesome. She took amazing notes, asked a million questions which I truly love and then debriefed Dr Niparko. When Dr Niparko came in he was so compassionate, they spent a ton of time (2 hrs) with me going over last detail. He was impressed with the increase in comprehension in my right ear and very perplexed as to my further degradation of my left ear. He said he didnt want me to become dependent on prednisone. He said my body has had the max amount of steroids taken orally for awhile, any longer and it can cause severe side effects like joint issues. Over the past 8 weeks I have been doing some serious homework, doing as much research as I can to know and understand what its happening with my ears and I was able to ask him questions. I asked him, since I couldnt do oral steroids, how about an I-T of DEX abbreviation for an Intratympanic injection of Dexamethasone. It is an direct injection through the ear drum on to the tympanic window of the inner ear. Stop far, I can hear again. I actually can heart without my aids, not like you can hear, but I can understand people and the tv again without aids. For those of you close to me, you know much of a struggle understanding anything, even with aids have been for me. My ears are doing some crazy things right now, thats ok, they are working! I will be headed back to USC on December 1st for audio gram and possible second injection DEX. ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS MY HEARING! :-) I just want to THANK everyone for all your prayers and encouragement. The guys at Lost and Found, My local Church family at The City Church Ventura and South, all my Facebook friends, you all are Awesome! Lucky and Ed, what can I say, I love you guys! Chris Hoffner, you have been there for me like a brother! Thank you! For those that have reached out financially to help me get new aids, they are coming! I am so blessed, my life is amazing, from my family, my son, my schooling, my Drs, my whole new life, I THANK GOD FOR IT ALL! I may struggle with hearing, but life is so much more then that. In conclusion!! Life will have many ups and downs, some that will try to consume you and steal your joy and life, dont get so caught up and focused that you miss all the blessings that are right there before you. THANKS CHAD! :-)
