Hey Studly Athletes, See below for a few more details on signing up for the 2015 Greater Yellowstone Adventure Series!! July 5, 2015 – 4th Annual Madison Duathlon – Existing route July 18, 2015 – Inaugural Big Sky Marathon – Route to be determined, but it will be a very, very long downhill marathon July 19, 2015 – 8th Annual Madison Marathon – Existing route August 2, 2015 – 4th Annual Madison Triathlon – Existing route Labor Day Weekend – 20th Annual Madison River Run – Existing route in Ennis For signups, we will be going live on Active within the next couple of months. I’ll give everyone plenty of notice. I’m sorry that I can’t give you a signup date now, but I’m still incorporating the race series and setting up bank accounts, insurance, permits, and other steps. However, we will offer a few new options for athletes to book their space early. First, athletes seeking their first, second, third, and in two cases a potential fourth Total Bad Ass (TBA) award can sign up now and get a good discount. The TBA is for athletes who compete in the Madison Duathlon, Madison Marathon, and Madison Triathlon back to back to back. Believe it or not, there have still been more astronauts who have walked on the moon than athletes who have earned a TBA. This is a seriously rare accomplishment. The online cost to register for all three races separately will be $220 plus online fees, but early sign-ups can get into all three races for $200. If you want to be a TBA in 2015, send me an email and I’ll give you signup and payment instructions. Second, Marathon Maniacs and other equally crazy runners can get a deal by making the Madison Marathon and the Inaugural Big Sky Marathon a double marathon weekend. This means you run the Inaugural Big Sky Marathon on Saturday, July 18 and then the 8th Annual Madison Marathon on Sunday, July 19. The online cost for both races would be $170 plus online signup fees. If you commit to a double now, the cost is $150. Just like with the TBAs, send me an email and I’ll give you signup and payment instructions. Third, a friend who used to work for the airline industry introduced me to the idea of ‘bundling.’ This is basically adding things like hotel rooms, car rental, excursions, etc… to a plane ticket. We’re going to try this with the Greater Yellowstone Adventure Series. We are fortunate to get so many out-of-state athletes who make their trip to Montana to compete in one of our races as part of their annual vacation. We want to make their vacation a good one. For our bundling package, you can get your entry fee to one of the races bundled to one, two, or three night’s hotel in Ennis. We’ll be doing some additional research to include meals, trips to Yellowstone, horseback riding, fly fishing, and other Yellowstone area excursions. If you like this idea, send me an email and we’ll try to put a package together for you. Lastly, I will be introducing the means for any and all of you to truly make 2015 an exceptional year for you personally and for others. Part of our bundling strategy will be to help you help others by promoting your athletic efforts to compete and raise money for others. This idea came from this past year’s incredibly successful Ice Bucket Challenge for ALS. Dumping a bucket of ice water on your head got the job done. It raised millions for ALS research. So how about running the highest road marathon in the world? Doing the Trifecta and earning a TBA award? Running two high elevation marathons in a row? Completing an Olympic Distance Triathlon? We got the goods and it ain’t just a bucket of ice water. My personal goal for the Greater Yellowstone Adventure Series is to make it one of America’s greatest fund raisers for good causes from around the world.
