Hey Team. I went out last night and briefly shadowed the GoRuck - TopicsExpress

Hey Team. I went out last night and briefly shadowed the GoRuck Class here in the Springs. I saw their welcome party, rucked the first few miles, and got to chat up Cadre Brad. Heres what we need to be prepared to do. Any conceivable bodyweight movement with your ruck on your back, on your chest, or is your hand/arms. Movements I witness last night were: - 8-count burpees - Push-Ups - Plank Holds - 4-count flutter kicks, at various tempos - Thrusters with rucks - OH Press with rucks - Squats with rucks (both wearing them and holding them) - Walking lunges, for about 100-yards - Bear crawls, for about 100-yards - Push-ups where you get in a line and put your feet on the shoulders of the person behind you. I think that is all I saw, but Im sure there are other forms of torture possible. Ive heard something about alligator walks (???). During the ruck they had 2 large water jugs, each suspended on a 2x4. A pair carried each jug with the 2x4 across their shoulders. They switched pairs when needed. This is the extent to what I saw. Currently, Cadre Brad, who was last nights Cadre, is scheduled for our event as well. He is a distance guy, and less of a PT guy. The PT lasted about an hour. He told me the planned route, for last night, would be roughly 30-miles, and Im sure there was some additional PT and physical challenges along the way. Id expect something similar for our event, but of course, we never know. He could definitely show up and decide to put us through PT hell. Or we could even get someone different, if things changed in the Cadre schedule. On a side note... Many of the guys I saw last night were no where near prepared for the PT welcome party. I know we have a lot of CF folks for our class, and last night was the same, and many of those guys were struggling. We are all going to struggle at some point of the Challenge, but I strongly urge us to not only to rely on CF training, weight training, rucking, etc. but to add in the bodyweight movements with your rucks, and get very comfortable with them, and being under load for long periods of time.
