Hey Y’all, We’ve been out on the road for the past couple - TopicsExpress

Hey Y’all, We’ve been out on the road for the past couple of weeks and I thought I’d just send you a ‘cliff notes’ report on the road so far; Austin was grand as usual. Got to see my daughter Celeste, who incidentally moved back to Austin after getting her diploma in Pharmacology from OSU – Oregon State – and she’s now a proud homeowner in the South Austin 04’ zip code. She now has her piano back after I’ve been taking care of it, lugging it with me for the past 15 years or so. She’s now just picking it up back again when she’s not reading up on new medications coming on the market and at work. We played the Roost up in North Austin and that place is great! One of the best sound systems in town, professionally designed room for the music and finally the people in the North hinterlands of Austin have a premiere club to go to. The Saxon was well attended the next night and it was a fun productive time in Austin once again. Fredericksburg by far was the biggest surprise for me. Bobby Mack, my old mentor and first boss, was in the middle support slot and we got to play together on stage for the first time in 20 some odd years. He was sounding great as usual and he’s only gotten better with age. He’s still a lady-killer with his good looks and charm and he’s still drawing the people with his playing. The Pioneer Festival had extremely enthusiastic fans and patrons. We’re hoping we get to return to the area sometime soon. Back East Texas we went to the great metropolis that is Houston. Dan Electro’s on a Sunday early evening was a hoot and a holler for us and finally I was starting to get my hands to cooperate with me and it was my first show where I was satisfied that I had more good things than bad. Lot’s of fun on that gig. The zig-zag continued and it was back west to San Angelo, TX for a two day stand at Sealy Flats. New ownership has taken over and they’ve made some improvements to the stage and to the area where the audience sits and watches. Dustin and I went out to an open mic jam on our night off there and befriended local hero Carl Crawford. We had a blast jamming with him and after that he came and hung with us both nights down at Sealy Flats. Carl is in the process of moving to Fredericksburg cuz’ he’s going to be entertaining the tourists at the new winery industry that has grown over the years in the Texas Hill Country. We wish him well. Our gigs were fun and exploratory and it feels and sounds like I’m starting to get my fingers to work for me. Up to Colorado for a day off of driving then we had Dillon, CO. at a newly built amphitheater on the lake there. Gorgeous setting and even though we looked quite diminutive on the stage while we played, due to the fact that it’s a big stage and our equipment takes up little space, we had a great time and when the clouds cleared the locals and some of our fans in close proximity came out and represented. By the end of the show we had the majority of the crowd dancing on their expansive dance area and we couldn’t help but have a good time from the vibes the dancers were putting out. Denver was up next and the Toad Tavern and my Denver fans didn’t disappoint. It had only been a few months since the last time we were there but that didn’t bother the majority of my fans that showed up to see us. Had a whole lot of fun playing and the music was fun. Love you Denver area! We’ve been in Wildwood South Dakota now for the past 4 days and it’s been a great time. Being situated in one place for a multi-day stand allows up to work up some new tunes that will be coming out on the new album and we get to do so many of the songs that we don’t normally get to do cuz’ you know I hate to play 2 shows that are the same songs in a row. Boring, especially at my level. If I get on a big tour opening up then I’ll get a show down but for now I’m going to enjoy my artistic freedom. Hope to see y’all out there soon cuz’ we’ve still got 2 weeks to go on this tour! Rock on! chris duarte
