Hey all! I have news to share that I got last week. Every so often as part of my twice - weekly blood draw they do a test for HCG tumor makers. This test helps them see how bad ones cancer is and if it is going away (they use it for other reasons also, but for this post is all about killing cancer). When my battle started my tumor marker count was up to 299,600. Thats right, six digits deep. When I tell Drs and nurses this number they usually respond with something along the lines of Holy cow! I cant believe it. Sometimes I think the fall short of telling me I should be dead, but thats the feeling Ive gotten from a few. Well folks, two weeks ago I got the marker test and last week I got the results. This number is now down to 1. You read that right, 1 as a lonely single digit. Ive watched this number throughout everything for almost a year so far and as it dropped it helped me get through the hardest, most painful, and most sickening times of my life. There is still a lot of work to do and a long time for recovery, but it feels good to know Im on the right path. Stay awesome my friends!
