Hey all! I want to take this opportunity to personally thank - TopicsExpress

Hey all! I want to take this opportunity to personally thank everyone who came out to support our oyster roast yesterday to benefit the Navy SEAL Foundation. Despite the weather being a little windy, it turned out to be a pretty decent evening with a great turnout. I would specifically like to thank a few key individuals whom, without their help and guidance this event wouldnt be what it is. First and foremost Dana Floyd Sutter, Genevieve Switzer, and Mark Switzer have been working hand-in-hand with me putting in hundreds of hours over several months pulling the wagon to try and make this oyster roast well executed and worthy of its cause. Thank you also to Debbie Shrieves, Lynne & Robert Brough, and the entire Island House staff for stepping up right when it mattered to make it all come to life. Furthermore, I would like to thank all of the people throughout the community who stepped up and volunteered to help in so many ways. Whether to set up or to help execute the event, it just wouldnt have been possible without each and every one of you. THANK YOU! Of course, the event wouldnt be possible without donations from H.M. Terry Co. Inc., Cherrystone Aqua Farms, American Shellfish Co., and Tommy Hines. They not only donated product, they roasted and shucked nearly 15,000 oysters and cooked and pulled almost 500 pounds of pork. Steaming 12,000 clams kept us busy as well. Anyone who has worked an event for 800+ people knows what an undertaking it is to execute. Finally, thank you to all the businesses and individuals who helped sponsor this event. Whether it was a $1000 sponsor, or a person who handed me $20 on the street, the Foundation will continue to have the resources it needs to take care of those who take care of us. We havent tallied all the donations yet, but we will be sure to let everyone know the final outcomes once we take a day to clean up and reset. Thank you Eastern Shore for reminding me once again why living here is so great! Respectfully, Blake Johnson
