Hey all, Im Joseph Brassey, author on Katabasis and The Mongoliad volumes one two and three. All of these books are thick to the brim with journeys, and theyre an obsession of mine in pretty much every pocket or genre of fiction I find myself delving into. As the topic here is Alien Worlds, Im going to start a discussion tangentially related to that, as one of the coolest aspects of Sci-Fi with regards to the alien is the How You Get There. As Shepherd Book says, its the worthier part. From more feasible Hard Sci-Fi methods of FTL travel to the Warp Drives of Star Trek or the Hyperdrives of Star Wars or the sleeper ships you see in Clarkes 2001 and 2010. Whats your favorite conceptual form of space travel? Incidentally, Stant, I was talking to my Dad about the Starmind concept of the Ansible stories, and he related something My grandfather told him when they were camping in the early 60s. Grandpa apparently said People say you cant travel faster than the speed of light, but if you think about a star, your thoughts are there instantaneously.
