Hey all, Im *massively* excited about our the wisdom and energy of our new team, and am eagerly looking forward to the challenges of the next two years. My focus (other than the hands-on running of Awesome Cooking at the Awesome Family Village in-festival) will be helping us grow. When I say growing I DO NOT mean 10,000 more humans at the festival nor do I mean a corporate-style revenue growth. Not at all. I mean find common ground on *what is important to us*. It can be participation for example, or perhaps how we do things - endorse organisation behavior from a narrower menu.. that follows an I believe that well hang on the wall... perhaps inclusiveness, or giving people leeway to go be awesome... or like unashamedly saying THANK YOU to so many people with a thank you long overdue or those yet to come. It can be anything thats important to us as a community. I sure have my ideas, but its not about my ideas. Its about a communal pile of ideas we feel speaks for each and every one of us and we want to be a part of. Once we figure out whats important to us - we work out how we can get more of it. Thats what I call growing as an organisation. Separate to *what* I will be doing, is *how* I believe in doing it. I believe in putting wind in the sails anyone with a vision and eagerness and rolled up sleeves... and if youve every been to Awesome Cooking, you know that wind. That person might solve a problem different to the way I would, in a way that makes my brain explode. Once we agree on the PROBLEM, I believe in them solving it THEIR way, not mine. Because this way, at the other end, that person will emerge a chief, not an indian. And what we need more of, as any village, as ConFest, as DTE, and more than anything as Australia, is more real chiefs. Leadership is about how much human energy you can bring to bear without using a stick. Lets be a source of that. Miki
