Hey all. Today/yesterday is/was the 16th annual Transgender Day of Remembrance. A (stealing from the below article) solemn tribute to those who have lost their lives to anti-transgender hatred or prejudice, and the event also raises awareness of the constant threat of discrimination and violence faced by the transgender community. Heres a poem from a brave person... From Button Poetry they post slam / other poetry on the reg if youre interested... They shared some other great stuff, including this which you should also watch: https://youtube/watch?v=TXFKSzNakuk Heres an okay article with statistics that will make you want to cry and scream, and a short history, if youre interested. I tried to find a better one but it was hard and Im so tired. Google plz if interested. hrc.org/blog/entry/hrc-to-honor-transgender-day-of-remembrance This is a list / ongoing project by a Huffpost person to compile a list of all transgender deaths to pass her desk, w/ name and cause of death (noted by no means complete because Most transgender deaths are unreported or lost due to misgendering) huffingtonpost/courtney-odonnell/transgender-day-of-rememb_b_6088794.html And this is a press statement from John Kerry the secretary of state / the state department which is nice too. state.gov/secretary/remarks/2014/11/234297.htm This was less personal than Id have liked but its the best I can do right now. Its important to take a quick sec to share issues you care about, so at least we notice its there for a bit. XOxox to all.
