Hey all, thanks fort the support messages. Good to see the whanau is still strong in a situation like what we were in. As far as I know and we still waiting on the csi or whatever report but we were heading north of pukaki to tekapo and the truck and trailer coming towards us locked up its wheels and the trailer swung right accross onto our side, right infront of us. To be fair i thought we were goners. I swerved off the road a bit and the trailer just clip the back window and righted us back on the road. After checking all pax were sweet, I told everyone to get off the bus and wait by it. One girl on the bus was a paramedic so she was awesome in assisting the peeps which were pretty shaken. Myself and the paramedic went back down the road to the scene while calling 111. A car smashed in the front and a doctor already leaning in the window. I opened the other door grabbed her id and gave to another person to id her. The doctor asked me to hold her head back while we tried to make a brace for her neck and he then said let it rest on that and cover her if possible but we are calling it at 3:10pm.... pretty bizarre feeling goes thru you at that point. Cops ambos and firebrigades turned up shortly after and the lady in the car behind me told me she saw it all.... apparently the victim was over taking a couple of cars behind me and going for us as well but we were going round a easy corner so not sure she saw what was coming. Truck obviously sees her and chucked anchors on.... end of story for her. Please make sure you all drive safe out there where-ever you are going or whatever it is you are driving if you get behind a wheel. I was confident in everything I had done that day but its not always something you can prepare for when its other peoples bad decisions, so just be alert and obey the road rules.... they are there for a reason...Im sure whatever she was in a hurry for wasnt important enough to put so many lives at risk and ultimately be the end of hers. I think if anything, you should use this to get out there and make the most of life because you all know the saying....... YOLO PEACE homies and safe travels!
