Hey everybody! What a horrible experience we had tonight! Just trying to take my girl to a Jacuzzi suite for some relaxation. What happened follows: There was not a single hotel/motel room within 50 miles of Akron, Ohio, EXCEPT AT THE QUALITY INN ON GILCHRIST ROAD IN AKRON, OHIO (NOW CALLED THE EXECUTIVE INN although with the same owner as always.) Over the weekend of August 1-3, 2014, Akron Ohio is hosting the Bridgestone Invitational World Championship Golf Tournament at the Firestone Country Club. In Canton, just a couple of minutes south of Akron, is the Professional Football Hall of Fame Induction Ceremonies and the Hall of Fame Game (NY Giants vs Buffalo Bills – the first NFL game of the season) on Aug 3. Some 25,000 fans are expected at Browns Family Day at the University of Akron’s InfoCision Stadium, coupled with another 18,000 at the Summit for Kids family expo at the John S. Knight Center downtown on Aug. 2. These are just some of the MAJOR events happening in and around Akron this weekend. Well, we had a reservation at Quality Inn on Gilchrist Rd. in Akron Ohio. We soon found out WHY this hotel was ALMOST EMPTY on such busy weekend. The place was indescribably filthy. The sheets had not been changed. The pillows didn’t even have pillow cases on them. They were stained with brown, filthy sweat. . There was hair on the pillow! The floors were covered with filth and who knows what else. There was a scum ring in the Jacuzzi. The TV screens (not flat screens, by the way) were covered with dust. The mirrors were streaked and dirty. It smelled horrible. We bought a deodorizing disinfectant spray before we made the decision to leave. To top it all, there were handprints on a wall mirror spread apart over a low dresser. I can only imagine what happened there! This room was never cleaned. There were NO TOWELS OR WASHCLOTHS. It was so filthy that I took pictures… and if anyone would like to see them, please email me at [email protected]. The entrance way was filthy. IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING THIS HOTEL, PLEASE, PLEASE RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN. DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER THE POSIBILITY. IT WOULD BE BETTER FOR YOU TO SLEEP IN THE WOODS THAN IN THIS PLACE! In fact, I would recommend the Massillon Road Motel, a pay¬¬-by-the-hour slim hole, before I would recommend this place. We were offered cleaning supplies and disinfectant spray to clean the room ourselves, and clean linins (maybe)! We were offered a 15% discount by the manager, Katelyn. She would not consider anything less. It would have taken us 2 hours to clean this suite just so we could pay a ridiculous price to stay there. Need I say, we have learned our lesson. PLEASE HEED OUR WARNING AND ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK. I HOPE YOUR HEALTH INSURANCE IS PAID UP. P.S. The only positive about this entire experience was the front desk evening clerk, Tarra.
