Hey everyone--Greg Adaline here. Apparently a few people are upset over a Facebook post and report we ran last night on what BWL paid some linemen during the ice storm. The pay and other details are outlined in a Review Panels 700 page report looking into how BWL handled the outages. Its a story we have followed since December. Many people in the Lansing area have wondered how the utility spent their money during the storm. Worker pay is part of that story. But please understand neither I nor my station made any JUDGEMENT regarding the pay. We simply reported it. As we often do, I asked viewers and Facebook fans if YOU thought it was money well spent. You. Not me. Not our station. A simple question---which was meant to spark a discussion instead has devolved into name calling and profanity directed at me personally. You are free to give your opinion. Thats what Facebook is all about. But understand, I, like so many of you-- appreciate all that the crews did to restore power. Its an incredibly dangerous job. In fact, we ran more than one story during the storm about the sacrifices the linemen were making over the holidays. Still, the questions over how our utility company used its resources in responding to that ice storm, remain. We will provide the facts as they emerge, while giving you a chance to respond. If our report or question offended you, I hope you can at the very least be respectful in voicing your concerns. As always, thanks for watching.
