Hey everyone! As some of you may have heard, myself and a couple - TopicsExpress

Hey everyone! As some of you may have heard, myself and a couple other execs are organizing World Water Week. Heres what its all about, World Water Week will be a three-day event organized by Envirowestern inspired by world water day. The purpose of this event will be to raise awareness for a range of issues relating to water and sustainability, with special emphasis on the detriments of disposable bottled water and water privatization. World Water Week will be held on March 19th, 20th, and 21st. On Wednesday the 19th the main event will be a documentary played at the western theatre, we will be watching “Watermark” starting at 4:20. To advertise the documentary, as well as the next World Water Week events, we plan to have a booth open at the UCC atrium during the day (11:00-3:00). We will offer free popcorn to those who attend the movie. On the Thursday the 20th we plan to invite about four or five speakers to campus and host a speaker panel and discussion from 12:30-2:00 (location to be announced). These speakers will have knowledge and expertise dealing with various aspects of water and sustainability; we are looking to invite one or two city employees dealing with the water system or environmental issues, an enviro sci prof, and a representative from Trojan, a company that develops UV water filtration systems. One or two of these speakers will present keynote presentations at the beginning of the discussion panel. On Friday the 21st we plan to set up various booths in the mustang lounge. These booths will have engaging and interactive components to them, all with the goal to inform participants about sustainability issues relating to water and what they can do to address these issues. Among these booths we will have a tap water/bottled water taste test, a few booths with creative visual information regarding environmental issues, and booths set up by third parties, such as municipal programs or firms who address sustainability. We plan to give checklists to participants, at every booth they will get a stamp on their checklist, and once they have received enough stamps they will be given a free reusable EnviroWestern water bottle. If anyone is interested in helping out let me know, next weekend we will be creating a water bottle graveyard with many many empty waterbottles, and we would love some volunteers to help run the booths on Friday the 21st. Looking forward to WWW, hope to see you guys there!
