Hey everyone I am finally back from working on the Oregon Gulch - TopicsExpress

Hey everyone I am finally back from working on the Oregon Gulch Fire that started early this morning. Numerous resources are currently battling this fire including heavy lift helicopters, dozers, numerous air tankers loading in Medford. The fire is in the southeast corner of the Medford District lands and started in a private plantation. We got the call about the fire around 11:30 this morning and responded with an engine. The fire behavior on scene changed rapidly from ground fire to single tree torching to group torching and crowning and running in less than 45 minutes. It quickly became a full blown crown fire and was plume dominant in less than 1.5 hours. This was also due to some very erratic thunderstorm generated winds that were over the fire. The fire is now burning into the Soda Mountain Wilderness and moving to the east southeast into portions of California. The last report I received on the way home was that it was around 3,500 to 4,000 acres in size and 0% containment. Here are some photos I took of the fire activity and the massive plume and the first tanker drop by SEAT (Single Engine Air Tractor)
