InstaEDU Tutoring __________________________________________ I. iOS and Web App Start-Up Founding Opportunities Seeking Web and iOS Developers Here is an opportunity to co-found a start-up or help develop on a young project. I am a senior CS major with too many ideas and not enough time. Quality coders are needed to take the lead and found a couple of start-ups. I would rather have someone from Cornell see them through than let them sit and go to waste. The start-ups are in spaces including: -The Education Economy -Location-Based Social Media -Commodities Markets As Im sure all of you have Ive been bombarded with ideas for start-ups but these ones I have talked and worked through and are all great. Preferable Skills(some of the following): iOS Development (Swift) .NET Ruby on Rails SQL Server MongoDB Front-end Web Dev (HTML, CSS, Js, jQuery...) If you have any interest or know someone who might be interested please shoot me an email at [email protected] __________________________________________ II. Engineering Admissions Office App The engineering admissions office is playing around with building an app that would be available to people visiting the college. Annually, we have about 11,000 visitors pass through our little lobby and we’re always trying to figure out ways to make the visit experience smoother, better. The app would be for next year’s cycle (so, April to November 2015). Trick is that it has be functional, helpful, efficient and represent the college well; some that I’ve seen are not good at all (Texas Tech, University of Georgia, and Yale are the three I’ve found). This could be a good honors project or a good addition to a resume. At the moment, we’re in the beginning stages of thinking this through, but would love it if it were student-developed. Any interested students please email Scott Campbell ([email protected]). __________________________________________ III. Paid Opportunity: Web Development for Goali (Back-End/Front-End/Design) Hi! My name’s Chi Wei Zhang and I am a CS Junior in A&S. Over the summer I’ve been working on a personal project—a website called Goali that keeps track of goals and generates data-based visualizations for them—and I’m looking for a few like-minded people to help me develop the website into something larger. Right now Goali has a simple backend set up and has several goal types, each with their own dynamic visualization. I hope to add much more content, such as more visualizations, a forum, and several new goal types. Although the project is still in its early stages, I’m really enthusiastic about this and would like your help with the front end, back end, and design. For the front end, I am looking for people who: Are fluent in HTML/CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery. Have a knowledge of d3 (preferred) Have a knowledge of AJAX For the back end, I am looking for people who: Know Django (python) Know MySQL (preferred). Please know that this is a paid opportunity. Experience is preferred, but I hope you can treat this as a learning opportunity as well. If you’re interested, please email [email protected] . __________________________________________ IV.
